Project description

Our mission for the 2018 Beethoven Festival: To make Beethoven’s music more accessible to a general audience. How do you get John and Jane Q interested in some of the most famous musical works in history?

It’s pretty simple, to tell the truth: you just have to take classical music down from its pedestal, and explain it to your audience. Why did the first notes of the Fifth Symphony revolutionize classical music? Being deaf, how did Beethoven write music? What’s so special about the Ninth Symphony? Simple topics that, once opened up for discussion, become interesting to everyone. Needless to say, every performance was packed.
